Does Costco have 1.74 high index lenses?

may be able to get more than what you paid for. My purpose here is to greatly help people find those situations and prevent getting ripped off. The more people share their experiences, the better informed people will be. First, I’m curious based on your username for those who have employment linked to Crizal? Unless you mind sharing, what is your current occupation as I’m assuming it pertains to the eye care industry. Or the better question, what exactly are people here misleading you on? Everyone is doing are posting actual costs/experiences at their Costco Optical locations.

  • I visited the Lenscrafters today, and they quoted me $540 and $636 for 1.67 and 1.74 high index lenses with AR coating, respectively.
  • gotten plastic lenses without anti-reflective coatings for about the same price.
  • The only draw back at Costco is that it has limited number of frame selection.
  • Few really good opticians want to work with a LensCrafters or wholesale club.

LoL. Costco’s exam “cheaper by $15 to $50” …sounds pretty good to me. And at least three posts previous to yours also have a whole couple of glasses with UV protect and anti-scratch for “well under $200”. The cost is in fact to measure and make a template for cutting the lenses which will go into your frames. They know the measurements of most their frames that they sell. When you use your personal frame the lens measurements is a little different from anything they have in their system so it’s more work to process your frame.

What You Ought To Find Out About Taking Your Glasses Back To The Shop:

I told her my prior pair was bought online, and she asked which store as she’s heard about many of them. Unlike most optometrists I’ve run into, she didn’t badmouth Zenni at all and said they clearly are providing something that meets a particular need.
My insurance coverage covers $40 for single vision lens, and $80 for progressive lens for out network. I have really never had an issue with durability on my lenses. And one is apparently permanently stained from drywall dust. The Crizal Avance lenses I am ordering are scratch resistant, and carry a 2+ year warranty for that. In fact, she paid the prescription glasses in a dirty old case (probably you will get 2 of those in a $1) so when asked to improve, I was told it’s completely new and the best they will have. I am going to never return there and warn others NOT TO shop at Costco Brampton optical section. When I visited Costco, the eye doctor accepted all bank cards, including Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

Some insurances are accepted at places that other’s aren’t. At all the among eye places and the private practice locations, I saw a mark up of over 10 times what I saw for the same frames and lens at the discount places. The exam may be cheaper by $15 to $50, however the real cost may be the materials. I saw, in this thread that Costco offers a lens that basic lens that has UV protection, but it costs extra for the anti-scratch coat. After you pay for the scratch coat, you pay a lot more than where I work. Costco does not offer a “FREE” year warranty on the frames or for gouges in the lenses. It doesn’t cover loss or simple scratches, but more than covers what most folks need.
I had use Costco years back, at a different location in Canada, and I was pretty pleased with the overall experience. In my opinion, they take a long time to get them ready (10-14 business days). It’s OK for me, when i have spares, and my eye prescription have not changed much. But I still think it’s way too long a wait to really get your glasses ready. So, should you be in a hurry to really get your new glasses done, Costco optical is not your place. I talked to them three times about returning the glasses before they took them on return the fourth time. To their credit they stated, and may have sincerely believed, I was having difficulty adjusting to, “progressives” .
She then measured the pupil distance for the brand new frames and wrote up an order for a fresh pair of glasses. And my Costco takes VSP, that i learned after likely to the optical look for the first pair.

Maybe try calling another Costco in the area and see should they will do it. The optical service at Costco was very good, excellent as it turned out. I had already shopped around for the frame style I needed so it was easy to understand if Costco had something comparable, that they did.

customized on both surfaces. I’d want to see some studies showing that anything beyond that truly improves vision for most people. I just scheduled my annual exam at the neighborhood Costco , apparently there’s a new optometrist and the cost went up from 79 to 99 for exam with contacts. All of the Costco Vision centers I’ve seen have an independent optometrist. When I was there a few weeks ago, the optometrist said she’s been there for several years and ahead of that had worked in a number of settings and likes this the very best. She said they don’t really ask her to push any products and just about leave her alone to see the patients and answer their questions.
A high-index lens may be recommended if your optical prescription is above 2.00 diopters. [newline]The refractive index is the number that represents how efficiently a lens material bends light, and would depend on how quickly light travels through the material. Money expert Clark Howard has worn Zenni Optical glasses for years now and has never had an issue ordering glasses online. Warby Parker also offers a “try before you buy” system, where they’ll ship you five different frames free so you can pick the one you like best. If you get your glasses and you also need them adjusted to take a seat on that person properly, there’s no store to go to for that adjustment. Second, Zenni’s site allows you to upload a picture of yourself and virtually “try” on multiple pairs of glasses to observe how they look on your face.

That’s very odd that they would sell you lenses however, not put them in your frames. Are you experiencing unusual frames they are concerned they can’t do it, or are they worried the frames may crack? I understand my local Costco said they might charge $18 if I brought my very own frames, unless the frames were originally purchased at Costco – they have no extra charge.
