Does Costco have Trivex lenses?
It was an unpleasant experience until I walked into Costco … Found semi rimless I like but now have a question about their lense quality. I hope this will help verify that the COSTCO brand isn’t the super duper and super expensive Verilux brand but also a quite great quality for a minimal price.
For anyone who is wearing progressive lenses and/or have a higher prescription go and see a professional. USUALLY DO NOT SHOP ONLINE for progressives or high prescriptions! The fit and measurements for progressives and higher prescriptions ought to be made by a human. The choice of appropriate lens material and lens design has to be made by a skilled optician. For children’s eyewear, select a sturdy frame and lightweight polycarbonate or Trivex lenses. My experience with narrow viewing range and bad distortion to the periphery of the lenses mirrors those of recent posts. I just picked up a new couple of glasses with progressive lenses from Costco.
Summary Of Costs
I was impressed with how light the glasses are! I was told there is a small adjustment period, so guess I will have a few days of getting used in their mind. My prescription changed slightly, now have a small astigmatism, and my frames were worn. Visited Costco and ordered their progressives after providing them with a prescription from my optometrist. The very first thing I notice when putting them on is that my right eye has gone out of focus. But, easily close the left and turn my head slightly, things focus. Costco’s solution was to bend the frames slightly.
- The only zones it generally does not overpower the worthiness of the glasses are in a residence type setting.
- On that note, you’ll should also make sure that your chosen vendor respects your rights and will accept your updated prescription.
- Yet, the store might require that you schedule a virtual eye exam as well, using the justification that they cannot accept others’ prescriptions.

The Vivix coating information goes back to 2012, but originated from an insider. To start, though, there is articles written on these lenses in the Costco Connection magazine in July 2014. I’ll paraphrase and quote a few of the important points from the article here.

Ask your optician in what is and isn’t covered under their frame and lens coverage policy. When trying on options, check with the optician to make sure proper fit. Make sure the frames don’t slide off the bridge of the nose, cover the eyes, squeeze at the temples or extend too much behind the ears. Proper frame fit is particularly very important to kids with specialty prescriptions like bifocals or Myovision, and for kids with lazy eye and high spectacle Rx. Whether you are interested in regular prescription glasses, sunwear or protective sports eyewear, it could be tough finding the right eyewear for children and teens. On the main one hand, they have to be comfortable and offer the optimal fit for improved
I am a costco member, will still be costco member, and will continue to purchase products from costco. There are a few products that i choose not to purchase from costco. I may be off base or a little behind the days.
I have had them on for about seven days now and I am never pleased. This is my fourth prescription in which I have opted for progressives and all of them have been filled over time by Costco. My old pairs of glasses gave me a wide field of view only mildly distorting when my eyes were at the edge of the lenses. The new ones force me into such a narrow tunnel of clarity that’s for all intents and purposes useless. At the edges of the glasses I’ve rivers of unfocused light drawing my attention and distorting my perspective and balance.
Some might be better for those who only require a small correction, and some better for those who have a strong correction. The physics behind progressive lenses make it impossible to have perfectly adjusted vision throughout a whole progressive lens. Having communicated with several eye care specialists, it appears that even they get confused on these terms.
Resistance to scratches, so they are less inclined to fog your vision. You should try requesting they don’t polish the edges of your lenses.
