Jorene McCubbins had a delightful visit from Davis McCombs and family. They enjoyed Susan Lafferty’s model of Governor Simon Bolivar Buckner’s house, Glen Lily. Related to genealogy or history research. For example, we’ve had several people enquire about the tornado that hit Hart County and who they can send money to in order that it reaches people in need.

Jorene McCubbins had a busy Tuesday at the museum. Will Burden, Kentucky, wanted to know about S.B. Susan Lafferty came directly into research a cemetery and enjoyed speaking with him about Buckner.

After much thought and discussion, the Society is pleased to give our winnings from the Halloween Contest to Hart County Scholarship Alliance. Our board was unanimously in favor of donating to the deserving group. What better way to help our community than giving funds to students that are taking dual credit classes? We are so pleased with the sponsors and Hope Hawkins on her behalf leadership.
Others ask, “Where is Quality Street, and how do I get there?” One lady asked the way to get touching the caretaker of Old Woodsonville Cemetery. Our requests are varied and keep us on our toes. We apologize that the wintertime quarterly is late. Both illness and weather took their toll before getting it completed. Hopefully, I can have them mailed next week. When you have not renewed your membership, please do so asap. Bulk mailing is a lot more economical than individual mailings.
Watch for more descriptive information in the coming weeks. Ted and Lorie Coenen, Louisiana, found research the Buckners. Tara and Scarlett Wilson “loved, loved” the Buckner house model built by Susan. Tara thought it was beautiful and done well.
Entrance to the Museum is free, but most visitors leave donations. Don’t you dislike it when technology fails? Not being technologically inclined, figuring out techy problems presented as I walk through the Society door each morning is hard for me. Last Wednesday night’s storm used our alarm system, phones, and computer.
