A report by Wanntorp et al. found Hoya bilobata to be most closely related to Hoya heuschkeliana, as far as recognised species go, through sequencing of nuclear and chloroplast DNA. The leaves are still very red and purple, but a bit less dramatic looking minus the blue highlights.
