What lenses do Costco use?

Having said that, this Reddit thread includes a large amount of good information inside it, & most posters note positive experiences. Costco also received top marks in a Consumer Reports 2019 survey greater than 65,000 participants for service. Anyone can book an optometry exam at Costco, member or non-member.
Both spontaneously praised the accuracy of the prescription and the grade of the lenses. Neither doctor knew that I get my exams, frames and lenses at Costco.
I wasn’t necessarily searching for the lowest priced pair, but I also didn’t want to spend $600 or more on glasses, as I have before. Many people need vision correction because of variety of factors, including age, genetics, illness, or injury. And although many people get their vision corrected with prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses, not everyone has usage of affordable options for correcting their vision. On the other hand, if you need prescription glasses because of myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism, choose clear corrective lenses having an anti-reflective coating. Because they are based on your personal prescription, they offer the best vision for the eyes. No optician, but I wear progressives and recently had consultations with two big-name Manhattan cornea specialists.

It may not be much not the same as your reading glasses that you utilize, though, based on your eyes. I ordered a set of glasses with the progressive digital lenses. I have a set of glasses using Verilux, Crizal coating, Transitions and anti reflective. This pair isn’t as effective as my last pair with the same coatings, etc.
BUT, remember it does take two weeks for your brain to create a memory file for each new couple of glasses. Each is cut a little differently, the frames sit differently, there are several lens brands represented, etc., etc. I’m hoping to introduce a few more variables into the discussion. Many things can go wrong with progressives plus some can be easily assessed by the consumer. For instance, with my first pair of progressives I could barely see anything far away so when I looked down it was a complete blur. I was given the usual caveats about taking time to adapt to my first pair, looking where I needed to see, etc., etc. I returned them, instead, and sought advice from my local optician.

• Costco has an eye doctor plus they provide eye exams on site.
• We all love to believe that Costco can’t be beat with regards to price, but Rx-able.com takes the cake here.
• It would still be worth it, but there will be no other benefit to presenting the membership in my own name.

When I first got the Costco progressives, I felt like my far distance vision was sometimes blurry when I was driving. I don’t notice that anymore so I’m guessing I’ve either adjusted to the lenses, or gotten used to some mild blurriness in the far distance. I’ve had the Kirkland signature HD progressive eyeglasses for about 2 weeks. I’ve never used varilux and only have the inexpensive Zenni glasses to compare them to. Even then, my prescription is slightly different with the new glasses so a precise comparison isn’t possible. I am moving all posts concerning the new Kirkland Signature High Definition progressive lenses to this thread.

Yet, vision care could be expensive, even when you have major insurance. Recommended for anyone with a solid prescription (+/-4.0 or more total power), 1.67 high-index lenses are around 20% thinner than polycarbonate lenses.

Polycarbonate lens rates lower mean they will have the potential to cause slight chromatic aberrations in your… Progressive lenses are like cars….there are various brands and models of progressive lenses. Some people are pleased with lower quality and some people need the bigger end models. Generally, the more expensive progressives will perform better (less distortion, wide zones for intermediate/near add power, etc).
They are noticeably much better than the Zenni Progressives I had this past year . Specifically, I find that near and intermediate vision is very good with a wide enough field of vision that I can do reading and computer work without any problems.
